What we’ve achieved so far …
In 2006, the Club embarked on its first ambitious project to totally refurbish the stage area for live shows and cinema presentations, with a fund-raising target of £33,000. This project included the provision of a new sound system, new lighting, new stage curtains and a new scenery storage area with additional dressing room facilities. This project was successfully completed in July 2009.
The Club also raised funds in 2008/09 for improvements and the enlargement of the Film Theatre foyer.
In January 2010 the ‘Digital 3D Project’ was launched to assist the Town Council to provide the venue with the very latest in 3D digital technology, enabling the venue to effectively remain open, at a time when the cinema industry moved to digital format of projection.
Before embarking on our current project, the Club financed new drapes throughout the auditorium.
The Club has provided a sound relay to the toilets during a film screening and sound and visual relays to the dressing rooms during live shows, has purchased LED up-lighting and microphones to enhance live show performances, as well as a new sound and lighting desks and also funded bespoke stage scenery and refurbishment of the proscenium arch.
Most recently, the Club has funded a new stage floor covering and also part funded an electric winch system for scenic backdrops.
Currently, the Club is offering match funding towards the Film Theatre’s new website and will be considering support for further improvements in 2024.
