April Film Theatre News

Mar 2013

I start this month with some good news!

Leiston Film Theatre is 'freezing' it's admission prices for Summer 2013, which means that cinema-goers in Suffolk can catch the very latest films, in superior digital quality and in 7.1 surround sound for as little as £4.75 each, when you ask for our family saver ticket! Now that's what I call a good deal.

I am also pleased to be able to tell you that we are screening the eagerly awaited Iron Man 3 (12A), from it's UK release date of Friday 26th April, with a special advance screening on Thursday 25th April.

Our Easter programme includes Disney's number 1 box office smash, Oz: The Great and Powerful (PG) in 3D and 2D, showing for 7 days only from Friday 29th March. Circus magician Oscar Diggs thinks he's hit the jackpot as he's transported to the Land of Oz, but his encounters with three witches and the problems facing Oz's inhabitants encourage him to become the great wizard they've been expecting. We can't wait to see this film!

The family films continue with Dreamworks' The Croods (U) in 3D and 2D, on screen from Friday 5th April. From the creators of Madagascar and Shrek, comes this hilarious prehistoric adventure that follows the world's first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, they discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures - and their outlook is changed forever.

Side Effects (15) is a crime/thriller, in which a young woman's world unravels when a drug prescribed by her psychiatrist has unexpected side effects, that lead to her husbands death. With his practice crumbling around him, the doctor investigates to clear his name and what follows threatens to tear what's left of his life apart, even as he discovers the diabolical truth of this tragedy.

Following on from the enormous success of their live performances, Bright Sparks are presenting a special 'one-off' screening of their latest pantomime, Cinderella, up on our giant 25ft screen on Sunday 14th April at 3.00pm.This is an ideal opportunity fo those who were unable to grab seats for the sell-out performances to enjoy the Saturday evening performance and perhps even see themselves up on the big screen! Tickets are priced £4.50 and are now available from the box office, or online via the Film Theatre website.

April comes to a close with the brilliant Jack the Giant Slayer (12A) in 3D and 2D from Friday 19th April. The ancient war between humans and a race of giants is reignited when Jack, a young farmhand follows a princess up a beanstalk, hoping to save her from the nasty giants. Jack is accompanied by some of the king’s men, one of whom has hatched a treacherous plan to bring giants down to Earth — literally.

Looking ahead, May brings us a host of great films including The Great Gatsby and Star Trek: Into Darkness, plus, direct from Ireland, the international singing sensation Mary Duff makes a very welcome return to the Film Theatre on Wednesday 15th May.

More about these next time, but as always, please see our advertisement for full programme details, or visit our fantastic website at: www.leistonfilmtheatre.co.uk
