December Film Theatre News

Ho, Ho, Ho! It's almost Christmas and Leiston Film Theatre has a smashing line up of great films to keep everyone entertained during the festive period.

December opens with the much anticipated Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 (12A), showing from Friday 2nd December. This first half in the two-part climax to the worldwide cinematic phenomenon sees the Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.

Dancing back onto our screens, just in time for the school holidays, we welcome back the loveable dancing penguins in Happy Feet Two (U), showing in 3D and 2D from Friday 16th December. Mumble, the penguin, has a BIG problem: his son Erik, who is reluctant to dance, encounters The Mighty Sven, a penguin who can fly! But things soon get worse for Mumble when their world is shaken by powerful forces, causing him to bring together the penguin nations and their allies to set things right. A wonderfully family film, not to be missed this Christmas and if you do miss it, don't worry, it's coming back over the New Year weekend!

My Week With Marilyn (15) shows from Friday 9th December. In the summer of 1956, an assistant on the British set of The Prince and the Showgirl introduces a newlywed Marilyn Monroe to British life and they spend a week together, during which time she escapes from her Hollywood routine and the pressures of work.

We also see the big screen debut of the swashbuckling Puss in Boots (U) in 3D and 2D, from Friday 23rd December. Ever wondered what Puss in Boots got up to before he joined Shrek and Donkey? Now the story can be told. The young Puss grows up in a modest orphanage, where his best friend is a misbehaving egg named Humpty Alexander Dumpty. As an adult, the ginger tom's stylish line in footwear worn with no pants makes him a hit with the ladies while he sets about protecting the innocent. The scheming Humpty, meanwhile, needs Puss to help pull off his greatest heist - the goose that lays the golden eggs! Streetwise, seductive Kitty Softpaws is also keen for a slice of the action, and she's very much our hero's equal in the swashbuckling department. Meanwhile, hideous outlaws Jack and Jill have discovered an ancient power that could destroy the world!

As if you need any more reminding, our annual pantomime this year is Jack and the Beanstalk, which comes to our stage on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January. I've had a sneak peak during rehearsals and I can assure you that this brilliant wonderful adaption is certain to be a big hit and judging on ticket sales, will be another sell out success for Bright Sparks. Talking of which, don't forget that panto tickets make an ideal gift for a post Christmas treat. Limited tickets are still available priced: Adult: 11.00, Child: 9.00 & Senior: 10.00.

Please take time to explore our wesite to see all that's happening at Leston Film Theatre this Christmas.

On behalf of everyone at Leiston Film Theatre, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Thank you so much for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all during the holidays. Ho, ho, ho indeed!
