Leiston is having its very own
drive-in cinema to help raise funds to support Leiston Film Theatre through
it's difficult recovery. As far as we are aware, this is the first ever
drive-in experience to be held in the local area.
We are extremely grateful to Sonny and team at Sizewell Sports and Social Club, Quartreus Ltd and Sizewell C, EDF Energy for making this event possible.
Where and when?
The event will be held at
Sizewell Sports and Social Club, King Georges Avenue, Leiston on Monday 31st
August. Gates open at 7.30pm, with the main film starting at 9.00pm. Spaces
will be limited, and cars must be booked in advance. The box office closes for
this event at midnight on Sunday 30th August. Cars must remain on site once
parked up and will be unable to leave until the end of the film, unless in the
event of an emergency.
COVID 19
Your safety and that of our team
is important to us, so please refer to government guidelines regarding
attending with people from the same household or mixing groups within your

19 please do not attend, stay at home and follow the self-isolation guidelines.

Theatre booking site from 9.00am on Friday 21st August. Important - When
booking tickets, please ensure to complete ALL SECTIONS on the booking form,

arrive on the night. A £1.50 booking fee is applicable to all bookings. You
will receive an email confirmation for each booking and you will need to show this

any last minute information/amendments. Important – Tickets are non-refundable.
This is a fund raising event to support Leiston Film Theatre’s difficult
recovery. If the event cannot proceed, we will attempt to hold the event on the
following night, Tuesday 1st September.
Will snacks and food be available?
It wouldn't be cinema without
popcorn and drive-in favourites will be available to order and pay for via a
mobile phone app, with your order being delivered to your car. Popcorn is available
in salt or sweet varieties and the drive-in menu includes movie munchies
including burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos, ice cream and various
drinks including milkshakes and a small selection of alcohol. We suggest you order your food and drink nice and early, as orders will be
freshly prepared on an order by order basis. Important – Only food and drink
purchased on the premises may be consumed on site.
Important – The recording of any film
is strictly prohibited.
How does the drive-in cinema work?
Gates will open at 7.30pm and
cars will be admitted one at a time and directed to the relevant parking space.
To avoid congestion, please don't arrive any earlier than 7.30pm. We will admit
you all as quickly as we can, so please be patient and observe the parking instructions,
to ensure two-metre distancing between vehicles. Each car will receive a
welcome pack, containing all the relevant information, a menu, emergency
details and a bottle of sanitiser. Larger cars and those that have roof boxes
will be sited at the end of a row or further back, so as not to impair the view
of other vehicles. Sizewell Club staff will provide all parked cars with an
identification number which has to be placed in the front windscreen.
Important - All guests must
ensure to bring a face covering and these will need to be seen before the team admit
your vehicle on site. Guests who do not have face coverings will not be
permitted on site.
The pre-show announcements, music
and film sound will be transmitted to your car audio system. The frequency
details will be provided within your welcome pack.
The car park lights will be
turned off at the start of the main film and remain off until the film credits. Our team will patrol the area throughout the screening.
All guests must remain in their
vehicles, unless you have to use the toilet facilities, which will be well
signposted and operating on a one way system to ensure safe social distancing.
For health and safety reasons, smoking is NOT permitted in or around your car.
A 'smoking zone' will be available, so please see your welcome pack for
directions and please observe two-metre social distancing while in this area,
returning straight to your vehicle afterwards.
In the event that you require emergency
assistance, please put your hazard lights on and one of the team will be with
you as quickly as possible.
What happens when the film ends?
Important - Please DO NOT start
your engine or move your vehicle until directed by one of the team. The car
park lights will be switched on during the film credits and cars will slowly
exit the site on a row by row basis, to ensure safety for everyone. Please DO
NOT leave any litter in the parking area - you can place your rubbish in the
bins as you exit.
