Now here’s a scary thought ... at the time of writing this, the school holidays are only a couple of weeks away and with this unpredictable weather that we are currently enjoying, we at the Film Theatre have produced a brilliant line up of big screen summer blockbuster movies to keep everyone entertained, whatever the weather, all presented in pristine digital quality and in Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound. We’re also extending the amount of 2D showings of 3D films during the summer, read on and start planning for your visits to your local digital 3D cinema this summer.

World War Z (15) sees Brad Pitt starring as a United Nations employee, who travels the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Showing at Leiston Film Theatre for 7 days only from Friday 5th July until Thursday 11th July in 3D and 2D.

Our exciting summer programme sees the return of those mischievous little minions in Despicable Me 2 (U) which is showing at the Film Theatre in 3D and digital 2D from Friday 19th July - definitely one of the ‘must-see’ family films of the summer holidays, in which the Anti-Villain League call upon super Villain Gru to stop a criminal mastermind from destroying the world - with a little help from his three adoptive children and those adorable and clumsy minions. An absolute riot of brilliant 3D family fun from start to finish!

Disney and Pixar have struck cinema gold once again with the eagerly awaited return of Mike and Sulley and a batch of new monsters in the box office breaking Monsters University (U), which is on our screen in Disney Digital 3D and digital 2D from Friday 2nd August for 7 days only.  Mike and Sulley are an inseparable pair, but that wasn't always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn't stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how they overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Form a queue now – or book nice early to avoid those queues!

July comes to a close with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teaming up in The Worlds End (15), showing from Friday 26th August. 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five friends reunite and attempt to reach the fabled pub, The World's End and as their tour progresses, they realize the real struggle is for the future of humankind! Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries!

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to be screening The Lone Ranger (12A) from its UK release date of Friday 9th August, starring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger. Featuring some spectacular action sequences, this looks set to be another monster hit for director Jerry Bruckheimer, who brought us Pirates of the Caribbean, Armagedon and Top Gun, to name only a few. Book your seats from Friday 19th July and we’ll see you there!

Other films for August and beyond include The Smurfs 2 and The Wolverine. One Direction fans will no doubt be very excited to know that the worldwide pop phenomenon is coming to our big screen, in eye-popping 3D in early September.
