June Film Theatre News

Jun 2013
14

Having recently celebrated 21 years at Leiston Film Theatre, it seems an ideal opportunity to thank you all for your continued support in making Leiston Film Theatre one of the very best independent cinemas in the country, with only a few months ahead until we celebrate our magnificent Centenary in 2014.

Our exciting June programme really is action packed, with a terrific selection of box office blockbusters currently hitting cinema screens.

We see the return of the action packed Fast and Furious 6 (12A) roar onto our screen from Friday 14th June - much of which was actually filmed at Bentwaters! Plenty of spectacular action sequences make this one of the most successful films in the Fast and Furious series.

Father and son, Will and Jaden Smith, pair up in the futuristic After Earth (12A) from Friday 21st June. One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, an asteroid storm causes a craft to crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. A 13 year old boy must trek across the hostile terrain to recover a rescue beacon if his seriously injured father is to survive.

June comes to a close with the eagerly awaited return of Superman in Man of Steel (12A) in Dolby 3D and digital 2D, from Friday 28th June. A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he comes from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

On screen soon, Brad Pitt returns in World War Z (15) as a United Nations employee who travels the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Looking ahead, Matt Damon and Michael Douglas star in Behind the Candelabra (15), based on the autobiographical novel and telling of the tempestuous 6 year relationship between Liberace and his much younger lover. We are also pleased to see those mischievous little minions returning in Despicable Me 2 (U) which is showing at the Film Theatre in Dolby 3D and digital 2D from Friday 19th July - just in time for the start of the school summer holidays!

We've got a great line-up of BIG films for July and August including Monsters University (U) and Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger (12A), which is showing from the UK release date of 9th August, but more about that next time.

We look forward to welcoming you to your local cinema really soon.
