Apr 2012

What a jam packed month Leiston Film Theatre has for you, with a host of great films to suit all tastes, from sunken love and protecting the world, to women rights and finishing that last piece of American pie! So don’t miss out and join us to enjoy the latest blockbuster films at your local 3D cinema!

Making a big splash, back on the big screen from Friday 4th May, we welcome the return of Titanic (12A) in amazing Dolby 3D. Every performance was sold out back in 1997 when Titanic was first released and we’re certain that the 3D version will ‘go down’ well and advise you to book early to avoid that ‘sinking’ feeling when you have to queue! Experience the world’s most beloved and acclaimed film in spectacular 3D (2D on Monday 7th May) for the first time. The tragic love story between a boy and a girl from differing social backgrounds meet during the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. An absolute ‘mast-sea’ movie event and where better to see it in 3D and up on our 25ft cinema screen!

Award winning actress Glenn Close, don’s men’s clothes and lifestyle in Albert Nobbs (15), showing from Friday 11th May. Albert Nobbs struggles to survive in late 19th century Ireland, where women aren't encouraged to be independent. Posing as a man, so she can work as a butler in a posh Dublin hotel, Albert meets a handsome painter and looks to escape the lie she has been living. Matinees on Sunday 13th and Wednesday 16th May at 3.00pm.

Hitting our screen in incredible 3D, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Samuel Jackson (to name only a few) star as super heroes in Avengers Assemble 3D (12A), on screen from Friday 18th May and showing in digital 2D on Monday 21st May. When global security is seriously threatened, an international peace keeping agency of super heroes including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow will need to use all their incredible powers to save the world from disaster.

Coming together for the final outrageous slice of America Pie, Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott star in the comedy America Pie: Reunion (15), showing from Friday 25th May. Over a decade has passed and the gang return for a long overdue high school reunion, during which they discover how their lives have changed and realise that time and distance can't break the bonds of friendship.

Looking ahead to the start of June, Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer star in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows (12A). An imprisoned vampire is inadvertently set free from his tomb after two decades underground and returns to his ancestral home in the year 1972, where his beloved estate has fallen into ruin and his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.

The school half term also sees the return of our popular 2-for-1 ticket offer, for the smash-hit family 3D film The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists 3D (U), showing from Wednesday 6th June for 5 days only. A Pirate Captain sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes the Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. From Aardman Animation, the creators of Wallace and Gromit. Grab your 2-for-1 voucher from our box office (while stocks last) or via our Leiston Film Theatre Facebook page.
