Leiston's hugely popular amateur dramatics group Bright Sparks are making final preparations to climb the magical beanstalk to panto-land, with their next fun-filled traditional family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, which appears live on stage at the Leiston Film Theatre on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January.

This is the 7th jointly produced pantomime between Wayne Burns, for Leiston Film Theatre and Bright Sparks and follows the enormous success of previous pantos including Goldilocks and the Three Bears (2001), Cinderella (2003), Red Riding Hood (2005), Aladdin (2007), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (2009) and Treasure Island (2011) and the 40 strong cast and crew are almost ready to raise the curtain on what looks set to be a giant of a pantomime.

The story unfolds in the pantoland village of Little-Pimple-on-the-Bottom, where the Trot family have fallen on hard times and Jack is sent to market to sell Daisy the cow. When Jack is tricked by the wicked Fleshcreep, into swapping the cow for a bag of beans, Dame Trot is most upset and throws the beans away. Overnight, a magical beanstalk grows and when Jack climbs to the top, he discovers a Giant's castle and a hen that lays golden eggs. Will Jack survive an encounter with the Gaint? Will the Baron allow Jack to marry his beautiful daughter Jill and will Silly Billy ever stop scratching his bum? There really is only one way to find out - grab your tickets and be part of the panto fun!

Bright Sparks are renowned for their 'big budget' amateur pantomimes, humorous scripts, colourful sets and lavish costumes and this production is no exception. With an age range from 5 to 80 years young, the group rehearse twice weekly to ensure a highly polished performance for each of their four shows, which always play to packed houses. This year's production also features the very talented youngsters from the Erin Lea Murphy School of Dance and sees the return of one of the UK's most popular organists, Tom Horton, who will enhance the shows by providing the musical accompaniment.

Film Theatre manager and pantomime director, Wayne Burns, can't wait to bring this beloved story to the stage. "Early indications are that this is going to be a giant of a pantomime, full of catchy songs, effects and a giant helping of slap-stick family fun. The Bright Sparks pantomimes are the highlight in the Film Theatre calendar for many of our customers and judging by advance tickets sales, I'm predicting that this one will sell out quite quickly." he said.

Jack and the Beanstalk will be appearing at Leiston Film Theatre on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th January at 7.30pm, with matinee performances on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January at 2.30pm. Tickets are now available, priced 11.00 for adults, 10.00 for children and 9.00 for OAP's and can be purchased from the Leiston Film Theatre box office on 01728 830549 or on-line by clicking here. Early booking is definitely advised.
