September Film Theatre News

Aug 2011

Apparently, Leiston Film Theatre is now so well illuminated at night, NASA have reported that you can see it from space! I'm only joking of course, but I would like to thank all concerned in sprucing up the old place and making it shine so brightly at night.

Our September programme starts with the amazing Rise of the Planet of the Apes (12A), which is an origin story, set in present day San Francisco, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. The visual effects are simply incredible and come courtesy of the effects team behind Avatar - definitely one to watch.

I am especially looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens (12A), in which Daniel Craig stars as an unwelcome stranger, with no memory of his past, who stumbles into a Wild West town, the only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. When the town is suddenly attacked by a strange force, a posse of cowboys and natives are all that stand in its way.

Children of all ages will have blast from our special 4D screenings - that's right, 4D, of Spy Kids: All the Time in the World (PG) on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. Retired agent Marissa Cortez Wilson gets back into action and recruits her two stepchildren, to stop a super-villain from taking over the planet. Presented in amazing 3D and featuring Aroma-Scope as that 4th dimension!

The outrageous, yet massive movie version of the smash-hit TV comedy series The Inbetweeners (15) makes it to our big screen from Friday 16th September and sees Will, Simon, Jay and Neil leaving school forever and off on their first lads' holiday. They've got two weeks in Malia with no parents, no teachers, no money, and little chance with the ladies!

September comes to a close with the romantic drama One Day (12A), in which two graduating college students decide to be forever friends and plan to meet up each year on the same date. However, neither of them would imagine where their lives would take them over the next 20 years.

Looking ahead, October offers up films including Apollo 18, Jane Eyre, Johnny English Reborn and Dolphin Tale, plus we have half term well and truly taken care of, with the return of our popular 2-for-1 cinema offer, for films including Horid Henry and The Smurfs, but more about this next time, along with details of the next huge helping of Magic, Mess and Mayhem as part of our school holiday package.

Please take a wonder round our website for full programme details, or click here to book your seats online.
