April Film Theatre News

Mar 2011

One of our shiny new customers has advised me that they recently paid 8.20 to see a film at Cineworld - the same film that we were showing that week for only 6.40! It begs us to ask the question, why on earth would you drive to Ipswich and pay 1.80 more to see the same film that is showing at your local cinema? When we explained that we can boast the very best in sound and digital projection and pointed out that he could enjoy a 3D film in Leiston, at a lower cost than watching a normal film at the multiplex, he was impressed - this is why he is one of our NEW customers! We rewarded him, with one of our loyalty cards, which means that, as a regular cinema-goer, he can enjoy more films for free at Leiston Film Theatre. Need we say any more?

April is bursting with films to amuse the whole family during those Easter holidays, plus we have a special 2-for-1 ticket offer running on Yogi Bear (U) and Gnomeo and Juliet (U) - both showing in spectacular Dolby 3D. However, you will need one of our 2-for-1 vouchers, which are available from our box office, while stocks last. We will also be e-mailing a voucher to all those on our website mailing list - so sign up today and get ready to save money!

We are looking forward to welcoming back the Oscar winning The Kings Speech (12A) for 4 selected screenings from 1st April. Based on the true story of King George VI of Britain and his impromptu ascension to the throne, after the abdication of his brother. Plagued by a dreaded stutter and considered unfit to be king, he engages the help of an unorthodox speech therapist, who through a set of unexpected techniques is able to find his voice and boldly lead the country through war. Simply wonderful and very highly recommended.

Featuring a soundtrack by Elton John, Garden gnomes go to war in Gnomeo and Juliet 3D (U) and have many obstacles to overcome when they are caught up in a feud between neighbouring garden ornaments. But with plastic pink flamingos and lawnmower races in the mix, can Gnomeo and Juliet find lasting happiness?

Yogi Bear 3D (U) sees Jellystone Park celebrating its 100th anniversary. However it may be for the last time, because attendance is down and Mayor Brown wants to close the park and sell the land. If the park is closed, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo will lose their home. Together, they join forces with Ranger Smith to save Jellystone from closing forever.

Our BIG film for the Easter holidays stars the Easter Bunny in Hop (PG). Blending state-of-the-art animation with live action, Hop tells the comic tale of Fred, an out-of-work slacker, who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take him in as he recovers. As Fred struggles with the world's worst house guest, both will learn what it takes to finally grow up!

We are very excited to say that the Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance at the Film Theatre at the matinee performance of A Turtle's Tale 3D (U) on Good Friday 22nd April. Come along and meet our very friendly bunny and enjoy this great family film. Grown-up's may like to note that you can hire a costume that looks identical to the Easter Bunny from our new costume hire department - pick up a costume guide from our foyer for see our website for more details.
